TIC TAC TOE is played on a 3×3 grid by two players who alternately place the marks X and O in one of the nine spaces in the grid. The player starting first starts with X and place it in any of the 9 spaces. The second player then places O in any of the remaining 8 spaces. Likewise they take turn to fill remaining spaces. The player who succeeds in placing three of their marks in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row is the winner.
Because of the simplicity, it is often used as a pedagogical tool for young children teaching the concepts of optimal strategy & good sportsmanship.
